'Ang on - you just said up there that you don't use a credit card?

Did the dealer charge extra to cover the credit card company's fee?

Not sure that's true. At last count I have 4 (empty) and one full.
Last one I only got in December. Total line of credit ~30k

Lol! Yup, some things don't change.
Heh, at least he can't fall off one of them.
Ta. Ask him if he'll invite me to his next fireworks party
too. I'll even stand on his garage roof and film them all
    again. Cracking parties, that man.

    Combined limit.

It was the single limit of >20k that surprised me. I earn a reasonable
salary, have a good credit record, plenty of equity in my property and
I've not been offered a limit near 20k on a single card (but then again
    I wouldn't want it either).

I've done similar stuff but even though it's 'free money' (and I managed
to take a cash advance without charges which went straight into a
deposit account) I don't like owing money on CC and from time to time it
makes me uncomfortable when I look at the bill.

Well... yes and no; I've other responsibilities that take precedence
    over bikes.

    That's "no" really, isn't it...

Anyway, there's no space in the garage at the moment.

I concur. Every time I switch a balance from one to the other, the
newly empty one gets its limit increased. Presumably to tempt me back.

I've got (counts) 8 credit cards which are all valid. I use
none of them except the one which has the 0% on it and it
doesn't seem to effect my credit worthyness. I read somewhere
that too many "enquiries" into your credit rating is bad,
but I wouldn't have thought so.

I'm sure SWK will be along soon.

I agree. I've used it in the past for some large bills (which
couldn't be drawn out of the bank at the time) and it's just
sat there ever since, slowly diminishing without attracting
    any interest.

That's still "no". I often buy stuff and then have nowhere to put
    it...

I have 5, and the credit limit they gave me on number 5 seems to
indicate that it had no impact on my score.

I have heard of this and have no reason to doubt it. I am curious as
to *why* too many searches has a negative effect. Any info there?

I was particularly concerned when I was looking for finace for the
Triple since many of these companies now only tell you the APR they're
giving you after they've done the search. If you decide it's too
    high, you're getting shafted, surely?
