Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country
protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of
illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect
it s own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and,
once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand
    the thinking behind these protests.

    (Her letter to the editor)
Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me
in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the
    beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors;
I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and
honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add
me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other
benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work
because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in
part). If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my
friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right
    to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and
I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest, um,
    except for well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a
fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about
it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being an
anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you
    can communicate with me

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America....if you
agree, pass it on (in English). Share it if you see the value of it as a
good smile. If not blow it off along with your future Social Security
    funds.

    -------------------------------------------

Some people take this to heart rather than a joke. Its not that they broke
into your house and did all the work. Its that you brother in law who lives
in the house with you invited them over. They didn't have a key but your
brother in law said go ahead and go in its alright. So they broke in.

The problem is not that the illegal's want to stay or think they should have
a right to earn a living here. The problem is that your brother in law is
still inviting more over. If there is no reason for them to come here then
they will stay home or at least come in smaller numbers.

As the Farmers Branch issue came up I heard one caller state how his company
built the mayor's house and how the mayor didn't mind the illegal aliens at
that point. The radio station DJ's agreed with him and this issue. I tried
to call in and make my point about this brother in law. I wanted to state
that I doubt the company pointed out that they were illegally hiring illegal
aliens to do the work. Since walking down the street I can't tell the
difference between a legal alien and a illegal one I just assume the person
    is an American.

The problem is from the businesses that don't want to pay taxes and hire the
illegal's in order to avoid paying minimum. If the businesses that are doing
this were required to pay a hefty fine, pay back taxes on all employees, and
some of the management team face jail time, then you would see a great
change in hiring practices. As far as one business not being able to compete
fairly with another, just file a complaint with the nis and have the
    business checked out.

We don't need any stinkin wall, we just need better enforcement of our
current ones. Of course that would mean that our congress would have to
register their employees or find new help.

Good point Elmer, but to me, a great deal of the joke was realistic. I
like your Brother in Law aspect, but that is not the only worry,. Those
folks cross the borders, even when the Brother In Law has tried to
discourge them, they dontcare what he thinks anymore, they just keep
coming. Also I like the idea, that they need to learn our American
language, not the other way around.

If you ever get a kitchen pass that allows you to leave the Bowie county
vicinity.. maybe, you can ride with me to a place on that Mexican border
where all those hordes of mexicans are streaming across.. hmmm.. I'd
sure like to see some of that..

I've visited almost every border crossing between San Diego and Brownsville
in the past few years.. So far, I've not been able to find all those hordes
    of
people.. The elections are over with, now.. There is very little political
    gain
from this faux issue.. I'd predict that within a few short months, the todo
    will
die down and we'll rarely hear anymore about it..

I guess I lucked out, cause I am getting one today. YesSir, all our
company are gone, and honey is gonna issue me one, but it has certain
stipulations. Number one is; She is on with me, and we're going to take
a little ride somewhere, maybe Jefferson, don know yet. She said she
wants a good, I mean good Hamburger, after all that country dressing,
    and stuff.
Hopefully we'll ride far enuff to claim, that it's out of the county
    over here.. Chuckle>

The hordes of them crossing has been evident for the last 5 years,
atleast. I dont get the point about that it is a political issue, at
all. There has been =way= too much publicity, for it too be a faux
    issue, in my opinion.
But, do think, 1000's of American citizens of Texas, NM, and Ca.
probably hope and possibly pray that your educated prediction will work

Visions of hordes of mexicans crouched at the Rio Grande or the Arizona
borders, just waiting to swarm across .. when someone isn't looking, has
been haunting me.. I keep hearing about it, but .. so far, no one has been
    forthcoming to show me..

As much traveling as I've done along that border, surely I'd have seen some
signs of all that activity.. Night or day, I've just not seen that horde of
    people.
All the "publicity" about it, just doesn't seem to actually be the case,
    when
anyone tries to verify the horror stories about this massive invasion..

I've invited a lot of people who claim to be so knowledgeable about the
issue, to go down to the border with me and show me .. So far, no takers..

Could be a fact, but if it is such a major problem that so many folks seem
to know so much about, why can't I find those "invaders"..

There is no doubt that we have absorbed a lot of mexicans into the U.S.
over a period of time.. There is no doubt that there are millions of
    mexicans
in this country.. The stories seem to intensify around election times and
    the
issue of immigration becomes critical when the politicians commence to get
all apoplectic with promises to deal with it.. Texas, New Mexico and
California have always had the issue to deal with.. It isn't anything new..

If you consider .. at one time the international boundary was between Fulton
Arkansas and Texarkana and everything west was Mexico.. you'd be living
in that country.. Fortunately for us all... a bunch of Texacans took up arms
and Texas became it's own country for a while..

As long as the U.S. protects the big business and farmers who are greedy
enough to exploit the cheap labor from Mexico, we'll have a problem
with illegal immigration.. Until the laws of our land are enforced to
    penalize
those business who hire them, they will come.. As long as our politicians
    are
willing to exploit the issue, to stir up the public for the purpose of
    winning
elections, those laws will not be enforced and the main attention to them
    will be at election times..

If you don't go look for yourself, you will buy into it and the problem goes
on and on.. Count on it..

I 've always wanted a KP to go to Bracketville,Tx. I dont know how close
it is to the border. My Dear, would be in favor ot issuing one for this,
but nah, not traviling that far to the Border, just to see if we could
take pictures of a group of them folks sneaking into Texas.
    Why, Bracketville, you may ask?
That's where John Wayne filmed the best darn Alamo Movie 1960 ever. He
built an authentic replica of the old 300 year ol' mission. He even
hired a mexican stone worker/mason to build it, according to actual
    measurements, I read.
There's been numerous Alamo Movies, but one compared to John Waynes,
btw, he played David Crocket. Bill had mentioned that time and era.

I would imagine that the multitudes of 'em cross where there aint no
    city lights.
As long as they've been doing it, they should be experts at it. They
use to called wet backs, why was that????
As far as visions, I have seen many videos take by the Border Patrols,
of Texas, NM , and Ca. borders, of great numbers of 'em caught and
loaded up, out in the uninhabited lonely areas, where a motorcycle cant
    =even= maneuver, havent you?

The "hordes" that I have been looking for, aren't north of the border.. I'm
searching for those crowds of people who are crouched down along the
banks of the Rio Grande, or the desert fringes of New Mexico, Arizona
and California.. Surely, there has to be a staging area somewhere in
    Mexico..

Much like the now famous newsclip showing us the border rush in San Ysidro,
California.. you remember.. the one where the media just happenned to catch
that horde of so called illegals, as they ran through the border gates and
    through
the traffic.. That one has been shown to us several times this past year, as
    the
politicians geared up to make some political hay over this problem..

Few .. if any have noticed that they are seeing a media staged incident that
    was
prearranged and was nothing more than a local protest over restrictions that
were being experienced by people who live on one side of the border and work
on the other.. It is easy to notice the year models of the automobiles that
    those
    people were racing through..

There is no question that illegal immigration is a problem that must be
    addressed
realistically.. The politicians who address the issue every two to four
    years, for
vote getting, isn't realistic.. As soon as the elections are finished and
    the votes
are counted.. the issue goes away, only to be dusted off again, during the
    next
    cycle of elections.. Regards

Bill, you may not realize it but you just described exactly what is
going on, according to the various news media.
Those illegals are trained so to speak, by others, they know the
terrain, the places to hide, the better places to cross, the places that
    are watched by the authorities.
Of course someone like you or me, would be hard pressed to search out
and observe any of them in action.
Evidently they are crossing in what you describe, in ''hordes'', and
doing it on a daily basis. To me the term ''hordes'' means many
thousands, and there is plenty of evidence to support these numbers.

Send an email to the Editor of the San Antonio newspaper, to try to get

You may not. That is your prerogative.
I dont think you will prove one way or the other, when crossing into

I dont believe anyone would use that area to come into Texas illegally

I know this might be a shock to you, and I really hate to have to be
the one to seriously injure your ego...but I doubt you could convince
anyone there are 1000s of mexicans on a weekly basis walking into this
country in a remote crossing, then avoiding the highways and roads for
20+ miles until they get past the customs checkpoints...all this while
avoiding INS and border patrol. Do we have breadcrumbs dropped for them
to follow and make sure they don't get lost out there in the desert?

It truly amazes me how someone can so easily believe stories by media
about how there are 1000s each week walking into this country, even
though there isn't a single video or it. Yet when shown how difficult
it is to actually get into this country and shown how many people
AREN'T trying to cross that border, they don't believe it.

    Truly amazing!
