Imagine if he'd been on a bike instead...

Ian Dalziel () gurgled happily, sounding much like
    they were saying :
    I don't know. I haven't been in a car with him.

    But it's certainly not impossible.

Quick choice - sit beside Nico at 150 or Peter at 70. Which do you go
    for?

I don't understand how it came to court, he can obviously run much
    faster than his dad.

  5. As I said not always. The fact that the police had been driving without
insurance, or a legal bond (their one was a dodgy one), or legal
exemption was over come in the 1988 RTA changes.

(I'm certain it was the 1988 changes.)

  6. So you were virtuous by virtue of your good fortune? Might you have
ridden an uninsured motorcycle on the road at age 15 if you hadn't been
fortunate enough to have "lots of mates who were farmers' sons"?

Dunno about you, but I didn't have much social conscience at that age.

How the **** do I know? There was every opportunity to ride the various
bikes we had kicking about on the road, I never did. That's all I can
    tell you.

I'm with WUN on this one.
I didn't have lots of mates who were farmers' sons and I've never
ridden anything on the road without insurance.
Well, much as I am now, I was more worried about the consequences
from the law at that age. Let alone from my Dad.

  9. I got caught by the local bobby once whilst pushing my lambretta up the
road towards the quarry where we used to ride such contraptions. His
main complaint was that I wasn't wearing a helmet. Told me to push the
    scooter back home.

Thinking back, I think a few folks around here would like to see me
behind bars. When I was 16, a few of us would take our crappy old HA
Viva van (with almost detached roof) down the pub, get pissed, play 3
card brag until the early hours and drive back to the shed where we kept
the van. Then we'd get on our fizzies and ride the rest of the way home
so as the folks didn't know about the van. That fizzie got crashed quite
a few times late at night.

    Such larks, Pip.

You can sum him up with the phone conversation we had after he'd
arrived in Sedan and while I was still on my way:

"the beers fucking expensive and there isn't much of a choice when it
    comes to local bars"

  15. Of coruse. Although considering I've only needed one filling and a
replacement of same filling in my life so far, it could be a while off.
