Gee, I wish I had photos of my history, but sure don't. I built my mini
bike from my own weird plans a year or two before you. I found a junk
bicycle frame, asked a local welder to install a plate of my design near
the bottom bracket and then bolted in a lawn mower engine. I added a
drive sprocket and directly drove the rear sprocket with it. The only
start was a jump and I had to jump off the bike and lift the rear wheel
    to stop. It was fast.

I got nabbed by the police so often, they took the thing away from me.
That was my second run in with the police. The first was them arresting
me at all of 11 y.o. several times for nothing much violations, but the
ocmplaints came from an important Rotary guy. So before 14, I knew the
    nature of police.

From then I sort of followed your route, but more street oriented than
dirt. I went from various Brit bikes to the CB 750 and then pretty well
stayed Japanese (although my wife - now dead wife - always was a BMW
womean) until I got a GS in the 90's.

    Long strange road.

When I was in my thirties, I was a fairly new father. I find that I
still have some of the same emotions that I had then -- for example,
when I found that my son was about to be posted to the Gulf...

There used to be a big thing in "pop" psychology about "getting in
touch with your inner child." I've met the little delinquent, and
would like to give him the boot, and meet my inner adult -- assuming
    he exists.

Larry, I enjoyed your reminiscing the milestones, I'll be 71 in Dec.
    been riding since
    1950 (39 Indian Chief), I had a Tohatsu 125 in 1963 when I
    lived in Grants Heights
USAF housing area way out on ave H in Tokyo, That bike would
    supprise you
with the power it had. But I've slowed down now to a 96

Good to see you aint complainin......it aint gettin older that's bad, its
gettin OLD that sucks. I turned 56 last month, and I rode over 500
motorcycles in that same month.Riding keeps me feeling young, and I'll do it
    til I run outta gas.........Howard

  9. 500 motorcycles in one month?? Damn, you DO keep busy.

I'm 68 and ride two different bikes (not at the same time..grin) I
run a VSTAR 650 on the road and a 76 Yammie DT250C Enduro off road. I
love the old Enduro. For one thing, I can touch the ground when I
    stop.

My first two wheeler was a little Doodle Bug scooter when I was about
    14. No brakes and no throttle cable. I used a bent wire to contol
the gas with my leg. (I never claimed I was smart)

    Among the bikes I've owned

    500 Indian Warrior

    Harley 45

    Vincent Black Shadow

    Kaw 100, 10 speed

    Bultaco 250 Pursang

    Guzzi 185 (road)

    cheers

500 motorcycles in one month is a lot. Did you abandon each one when
    it ran out of gas?

Nah, and that's my dilemma. I never get to ride any of 'em far enough to run
    out of gas.......:)

But think of all the riding and cool bikes you have gotten to experience
over the years. So many have only recently taken up riding. They never had
the pleasure of being a public enemy just because they were on a motorcycle,
or all the leaky, cranky Brit bikes, or the temperamental Italian bikes or
    ..........
