Oh. That's a bugger as my nearest BMW dealer is 65 miles away and I've
    never been there.

Mind you, the brakes on the GS seem more reliable than those on our
GTR although the mileage is somewhat different. The discs have already
been replaced once under warranty and it's juddering like mad again
when pulling on the front brake at anything above 60 - enough that the
whole bike is vibrating and L can feel it on the pillion - so I'm
guessing they've gone again. If they haven't I've no idea what it is.

We have a fair distance to ride over the weekend so that's not going
    to be much fun.

At least they're not following the Yamaha path of waiting until the
owner points out the problem and then fixing it.

The latest one is a small issue with oil from the engine breather
collecting in the airbox and owners having to drain it regularly via a
tube with a plug in it. I wondered why I discovered about 1/4 litre of
oil in the bottom of the airbox but a quick check on the XT forum
showed it up as being something that Yamaha have addressed but you
only get it done if you ask. Bunch of cunts.

FFS, when are you finally gonna chuck a match on that thing?

You want a(nother) nice reliable Italian bike, you do!

It's a very strange day indeed when an Italian designed bike is more
    reliable than a Japanese one.

Is the Yamaha actually manufactured and assembled in Italy or is it one
of these import restriction avoidance schemes where all the parts come
from Japan and are assembled in Europe ?

dunno about Andy's but my old SZR660 was designed, built, and shipped
    by Yamaha Italia.

I assumed he was commenting on the oh so reliable 748 that I had a few
    years ago.
