I'm struggling to cope with this

This evening I taxed the Versys... for the fourth time.

It's unheard of, I've never taxed the same vehicle that many times on
the trot when the last disc has run out. Ok, so I tax it for 6 months
at a time, but even 2 years is a hell of a long time for me to keep the
same bike in constant regular use.

I used to be the same. 6 bikes in as many years. Coming up to a decade with
the same bike. Shame your Versys is unlikely to be a viable bike in 8 years
    time

Why wouldn't it be? There are still plenty of high mileage GPZ500s and
ER5s, and I know of a few 80K+ mile Versys and ER6s out there going
    strong.

It's designed to biodegrade before then

It's a constant battle against the corrosion, I must admit. I think I'm
on top of it now though, more new parts are on order under warranty
just before it runs out. When the new bits corrode I'll strip the whole
bike and have everything sandblasted and powder coated.

I don't know how you guys do it. I typically keep my vehicles for 10
years or more. My truck is a '94, my ST1100 is a '91. I had my KLR for
11 years. My ST13 is an '03, but I'll probably sell it in the next
    year.

OK, it's not been in constant use for those 29 years and it's spent the
last two years languishing in a shed whilst the motor did hill climb
duties in another Morini, but it will always be a 'keeper'.

It's very nearly ready for an MoT after sorting out the niggles with the
front brake light switch and the front brake caliper kissing the disc.

Very sensible actually, even with the cost of fuel rising it must be far
more economical now, what with all that ferrous oxide disappearing into
    the slipstream.
