    Ah, ok then.

Thanks for clearing that up. (so to speak ;-)

And what makes you think I don't spend all day wiping arses in IT ?!

    Cheers,

    Paul.

  2. .... and how easily we remember that THIS newsgroup title is "... UK ..." !

and, in any case, just because democracy isn't practiced 100% worldwide
[yet], doesn't mean its a bad thing, does it? Really ???

    PS

If you can't bring yourself to 'shop' any drunk drivers out there (or, if
for some highly illogical and completely inexplicable reason, you have any
qualms at all about it), then drop me a line and I will VERY happily do it
for you. I will also happily 'shop' anyone else acting in a similarly
grossly illegal and unbelievably inconsiderate/deadly/dangerous manner that
is highly likely to result in the death/injury or maiming of completely
innocent parties (e.g. me, you ... or my family ... or yours!!).

Drinking and driving IS a 'deliberate' act. End of story!

No-one forces you to drink. No-one forces you to drive. It IS therefore a
    deliberate act.

It is also an act that [far too] often results in the death or serious
    injury of [completely innocent] others.

Being a deliberate act, I believe that death caused by intoxicated drivers
is akin to premeditated murder. They plan to act in a manner which is
commonly known to cause death to others (that is a premeditated and
deliberate act). To be intoxicated and to drive is equivalent to swinging a
large battle-axe around in a packed football stadium. There is always a
chance that you won't hurt anyone at all ... but you don't actually give a
**** whether you do hurt anyone or not! As is evidenced by some of the
    truly inane replies found herein.

Being someone who really enjoys a drink and enjoys a drive (SEPARATELY, of
course), I know that it IS perfectly possible to separate the two - I've
been doing it for decades, so it must be possible ... surely!

However, as a [responsible?] parent, there are a number of 'disgustingly
anti-social' crimes for which I would gladly bring back the death penalty
.... and drink driving is one of them. To my mind, anyone who cares so very
very little about the safety and welfare of his/her fellow citizens, and is
even proud(?!?) to knowingly act in a manner likely to cause their deaths,
does not deserve to live amongst them!
