  1. ...the satellite broadcast of the LHC startup (mainly provided by
    the BBC as far as I can tell) will be on webcast.cern.ch from 0900-1800 CEST
    (0800-1700 of your British hours) tomorrow, Weds 10/9/8 (7/6/5/4/3/2/1...).

    It will also be sent out in two different bit-rates from the
    video-conferencing facility http://evo.caltech.edu/ (free registration and
    Java required).
