Basement Jaxx aren't "worse than Radiohead" for dancing to or cheering
    you up, for example.

Not that I like Basement Jaxx, you understand.

Sure. I've just alighted on them as my "hate band of choice", partly
because I don't particularly like their stuff, but mostly because at
last year's Glastonbury, the Beeb showed 4 David Bowie songs and about
a fucking hour of BJ. Of course, this was because they were
contractually bound to show a limited amount of Bowie, and wasn't BJ's
fault at all, but it's stuck.
I imagine you're not a huge Radiohead fan either.

    I don't /mind/ them, but it's not something I'd actively choose to
listen to. If I do find myself in the - rare - mood for listening to
something with real guitars in and actual sung lyrics, then it'd
almost always be something like Beck or Lambchop or Sparklehorse.

  6. As the BBC guy responsible for Glasto coverage said in an interview in
the Independent a couple of weeks ago : "Heritage artists are keen to
protect their exposure". Bowie did a big national tour this year,
playing his back catalog for the first time in over ten years. I
guess it's a reasonable assumption that had this been viewable on the
Beeb last year, less of us would have shelled out to go and see him.
Cynical, but Davey Jones has always been well tuned to the economics
    of the business.

Interestingly, in contrast, Macca didn't seem to mind a large part of
his set going out. But then, I guess he literally has more money than
he knows what to do with.

His personal popularity rating has taken a bit of knock recently with the
Lennon - McCartney fiasco. So he could be keen to avoid looking like a
    money grabbing cynic.

I like them. I have only one album, called Barbed Wire Prophets,
which I bought in a record shop in Bristol. I rather like it, though.

Hand-in-hand with the Sonic Arts Network, who used to have my old music

AFAIK, I introduced him to his first sampler. Result.

Muse are just histrionics to guitars. Quite a lot of noise for a three
piece, but still shite. Wailing shite at that.

Current flavour of the month is Tinariwen.
