I heard that on R4 many years ago. A marvellous adaptation. I eventually
read the book a couple of years ago. I was surprised to discover that
it's SF: for some reason it features a video-phone!

I take it you're not talking about the book o the same name by Kyril
    Bonfiglioli?

    Yes.

The video-phone is the only remotely SF thing about it, of course. The
rest of it's just entertainingly weird. I might have to dig out my copy
    and read it again.

Oh. I heard some of the same R4 series, but haven't read the book.
I might ask to borrow that when you've finished with it.

    Cold comfort farm
I'm going to have to read it again now and spot the video phone. And
now I have the Divine Comedy song going round in my head.

It'll now turn out that it's simply a figment of my fevered imagination.

It will have to wait until I find my copy - I was convinced I knew
exactly where it was as I have a Folio edition and all of those are on
a top shelf - apart from it seems 'cold comfort farm'. Still I'd
forgotten I had 'I capture the castle' so I'll read that instead.

I haven't a clue where my copy is, except that it's in one of many piles
    scattered about the house.
