  4. He was reluctant to go into the ERM because the time was wrong, and was
only pushed by her who had to be obeyed, and events proved he was right.
He's just about the only thing that would persuade me to vote Tory, 'cos
he would do his darndest to get us into the Euro.

  6. and I can remember the palpable sense of shock when the news broke that
he had died. I think (a majority of) the electorate were looking forward
    to electing him.

I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. Apart from
deaths in the family I can't think of anyone else's death having such an
    impact.

  11. Sir understands quoted text perfectly well, there being none in the post to
which I replied, save the URL.

  15. If Sir had an ounce of brain in his head, which Sir obviously doesn't,
Sir would have seen it was a quote from the website.

OK, so it didn't start: START/ and end END or whatever, and it wasn't in
inverted commas, but it was evidently obvious to everyone except you.

    Oh, and Mark Mcn.

Or didn't you go to the website?

Bad form and all that, but it isn't every day that one's status as an
    arch political pundit is confirmed.

Remember folks, you heard it here first.

I'm sure the unbounded joy he'll feel at watching the Tories sawing
frantically at the branch they're sitting on will more than compensate.
