In an ideal world, as soon as I get my licence back but in reality, when
I've paid back the cost of doing this one. Probably some time after
Chimay. Depends how much I can earn and what sort of work I get.

  7. Not a bad idea to build up some experience on Class E, I suppose. You
might be able to fit in a few other nice extras like Dangerous Goods or
    Hi-Ab.

Ben Blaney's the man to ask.

If I change my posting name I doubt whinging will be in it. I've done a
lot less whinging since I gave up dispatching. I can't say I miss it.
Well, maybe a tiny bit but this is my life we're talking about.

    Well done.

Let me know if you want any contacts passed on (though most of the
people I knew in the industry are dead, in prison, or have moved into
    internet porn).

Things that boost trucking pay are:
    1. working nights,
    2. having nights out,
    3. going abroad,
    4. smuggling heroin
    5. doing long hours.

Now #1 and #5 often come in tandem. See if you get on one of the
parcel distribution contracts - TNT, palletline, ANC. You'll get a
reasonably long drive, a reasonable period to kick your heels while
you wait in a queue to be tipped/loaded, and a reasonable drive back.
    All at night rates.

#2 and #3 often come together too. Personally, I've only ever had 2
nights out in the UK, and I hated both. Parking, facilities and
weather are fucking terrible. Go over the water, if you can.

If you want to learn about Lorry Cranes then gissa shout. Our company
trainer is the dogs nads and a fun person when teaching as well.
I could give you the basics and then recommend you for a training session
(1day) with him if he can get you in on a local to you operator when he's
    over that way.
Having a crane certificate does open a few extra possibilities and it
*doesn't* have to be a CPCS card one either.
