Listing fees are only relevant to starting price, no?

No. Free listing if 99p or lower starting price.

He'll be paying £37.40 + 1.9% of the final selling price of £600 or more.

  7. I actually think a quantity such as his would have had the effect of
    depressing the market. Seriously.

  11. I've got a couple of snap on ratcheting screwdrivers and they really are
a thing of beauty. Nothing I have used even comes close. But 8 is just
plain stupid. Their spanners are good but I find them a bit thin to be
    really comfortable to use.

I was certainly very seriously considering it, yes. I mean, that's
what the winning bidder is going to do[1]. I've got nowhere to put the
things, mind, but that's always been a problem that's arisen and
    sorted itself out somehow.

[1] I assume - flatly refuse to believe anyone wants all those tools
    for himself.

Hmm. Just because someone's spent the money I don't think it follows
that they will make a profit.

34k invested, you'd need to be looking at 40k+ for it to be worthwhile
    wouldn't you? That's 80 50 quid lumps.

I know it was a lot of tools and I know people spend a fortune for
Snap On (not me, Halfords Pro and Blue Point...) but the risk looked
too high compared to the potential reward.

I'd have been tempted myself except when I buy things to sell I never get
    round to selling.
So I'd just have had the UK's largest private Snap-On collection.

It was a no brainer for an enterprising snap on van man though

    How so?

Most customers will be on a business account or individuals on the drip as
stated by Pip above. That means supplying pukka paperwork.

To shift that lot a genuine Snap-on franchisee would need customers who pay
cash. Few & far between I would imagine. If they had enough cash trade then
the franchisee would have to explain why their orders into the supply chain
had dropped off. As Steve said to TOG, a lot of investment & effort for a
relatively small short term profit and one that could jeapordise a
    livelihood.

Two Snap-On franchisees recently lost their franchises for selling used
Snap-On tools on ebay. That tool collection would not have been bought
    by a current Snap-On man.

    Really? That's interesting
They shouldn't have to eBay it though, just do quiet cash deals with their
customer base. Possibly using a Mule. I expect some of the big franchised
    dealers might buy job lots.
