I wondered that, but then I began to think. How many snap-ons would it
take to reach a grand? And I thought not that many..

  11. Oh yes.

(Says the man who's just bought a used Snap-On cordless rattle gun).

  15. <snip sad tale of addiction>

I once spend a day working in a Honda dealership workshop, for a
    feature.

It was the day the Snap-On Man called.

The reaction shown by small children to the chimes of an ice cream van
are as nothing compared to what seasoned mechanics do when they hear the
familiar rattle of the Snap-On van's Mercedes diesel.

As one, ears twitched. Six heads were raised in unison. Six faces
swivelled to face the door. There was a clatter as tools were downed,
and a gentle 'spludge' sound as one was accidentally dropped into a tray
    of sump oil.

    Stampede.

Outside the shop, the smiling pusher observed his charging addicts, and
swung open the back doors of the van. In they went.

Hoots and grunts of surprise and satisfaction emanated, sounding for all
the world like a troop of baboons feeding in an African copse. An image
which was heightened later, as they passed their purchases around each
other for stroking and approval, to gentle "hoo-hoo" sounds.

A fearsome thing, is Snap-On addiction. As pervasive as heroin, and
probably a damn sight more expensive.

  16. There's still more than a day left for the auction to run, and it's over
£26k now. I reckon final price may be £35k, maybe £40k.

  17. Just read the Q&As. He reckons the collection cost £75,000.

    I wonder what it *weighs*?

Reading the description it implies that it's an amalgamation of several
different sets, so it kind of makes sense that there are common bits
    which are duplicated.

  19. Don't think I'm not considering it. I'm just wondering where the hell I
    could stash it.

I expect most of the Snap-On van men will be bidding to keep this off the
    open market
