I think that's almost worthy of a YTC number

Had another go at the 400 Four today as I'm planning to ride the bike to
Chimay next weekend. Found that the carb that was causing problems on
the idle had a blocked pilot jet, which I cleaned. Hooray, that should
    sort out the idle.

Well, I could verify that if I could find that fucking key for the bike,
but can I? Can I bollox.

TOG will be along shortly with his 'how to hot-wire a 400 four in ten
seconds without any damage' tip. Sadly I can't remember it.

Jam a spare fuse in between the bottom and next-from-bottom fuse in the
fuseholder, turn on the lights, and the ignition comes with it.

Trouble is, Timo's 400 has had some fusebox "issues" in the past
(there's an interesting scorch mark there)....

I've already done that to confirm if cleaning the jet did help. Seems
like it did, but I don't want to ride to Chimay like this, due to the
    aforementioned scorch marks.

Look, I'm not paranoid, I *know* that this breakdown lorry is following
    me around everywhere I go.

    Nothing to worry about then.

Or, better still, in the tool tray under the (locked) seat?

It won't be, given that the tool tray isn't currently under the seat
    either.

Aha. Have you tried the floor directly under the seat, then?

Or in the gap that's big enough to let a key through, but not the key-ring,
    between swingarm and frame?

You're brave, walking into any other 16 yr old girl's room is scary
enough, but your sprog's would fill me with absolute terror.
