aargh - yes - why does no fucker like to filter along there? There's
plenty of room - especially between lanes 2 and 3 (remembering to nip
back in before the various right-hand-turn slip road bits).

I have to be motivated to make progress, like having to be somewhere at
a set time or getting some sort of reward at the journeys end. To take
every opportunity to get in front just because I'm on a bike doesn't
    make sense to me.

I'd get shot of the bike now IIWY. You're obviously not cut out for
    it.

whereas my attitude is "I'm on a bike - my place is in front".

Having said that, I don't like following people in the car either - I
    have to be constantly overtaking.

Nar, one of the biggest joys of motorcycling is the seemingly effortless
    overtake.

  7. You can make good progress along there if you use all the lanes and keep
well ahead of the buses. It's the bit between the flyover and Madame
Tussaud's that requires the most dexterity and forward planning.

Oh yes, I like that... just not all the time at every available
opportunity just for the sake of it. I think that there are better
things to do in ones life than rush from wait to wait or event to event.

yeah, I know - I used to do the journey 2-3 times a week, when my
working day started in Windsor, and ended in the British Library. Even
on my BMW, I was held up by other bikes on that stretch all the time.

    event.

Quite. Sometimes it can seem a bit pointless to filter
to the front, so you can be first away and then be first
at the next red light and have to wait longer.

There are times when just sticking with the traffic and
trying to hit the next lights on green seems the better option.

Not to be confused with the smooth and stately glide past 'cos I forgot
    to change down a gear.

So you'll be giving up taunting people here by calling them "slow" as
    an insult?

Yes, the BMs can be a bit heavy to hold up by yourself.

Ah, the UKRM "must go really fast at all costs" syndrome starts(??) to rear
    it's head...

Or on my 250, the crawl past at walking pace coz you didn't change down
    3 gears.

Being at the lights increases your chance of getting through the next

Err, caveat: "Somtimes" and "There are times"?

If it hadn't been for those pesky kids....
On reflection, I think I'll just say that it depends on my mood.

Unless you know exactly when the next set of lights is going to go green,
this is a formula for "not making progress".

If you keep pressing on and filtering to the front, eventually you will get
through a set of lights that the people behind you won't.
