I think it's about time we had a new list.....

If I'm way at odds with everyone here then I'll shut up on the subject.

I just can't see why you'd even think about, discuss, or implement a
car-based sig list for use in a motorcycle newsgroup. Especially when a
good number of the wankers with shitty old cars hang out in the car
    newsgroups anyway.

And the "consumption is good, per se so let's celebrate it" notion - which, if you
know Cane, is very different to the "let's celebrate having rubbish /cars/"
being bandied around by SteveH. In a motorcycle newsgroup.

Nah, have your say, but you do seem to be taking it a bit too seriouslyy.
I stopped hangin out in the car groups (apart from the Alfa one which I
founded, but find myself posting to less and less) simply because it was
all too 'focused' if you like. I like the pub atmosphere here, and the long
tradition of doing daft things for the hell of it.

Oh, I agree with you. I think the whole number thing is pretty wanky
anyway and this one in particular is pointless. Mind you, I think the
two numbers are equally sad but at least relevant.
You take life too seriously mate.

The quality of post in this NG has gone through the floor[1] I'm
wondering though if TOG made the right decision. What ever happened to
this NG? I went a couple of years ago for a 'sabbatical' but tbh it's
not been that worthwhile for me since I've been back. Still, I have
little enough life so apart from getting my work laptop out and clearing
up my email and writing some of the outstanding documents I owe, what
else would I do with the hours that I can't sleep?

[1] And yes, I know a lot of it's my output.

    Can you please explain this?

I can get either #*i or #*j out of it depending one whether one's an
Engineer or not (probably Electrical/Electronic Engineer if I think
    about it).

I know. I just can't resist railing against what I see as ludicrous, or
    wrong, or dull.
Loads of tedious numpties turned up.
ebay URLs are considered worthy of starting a thread

    Funny people kept dying.

****, it's even so rubbish that the rec.moto lot don't bother popping in.
I enjoy it when a large number of posts are from people with a good deal
to say. Trouble is, that's all too rare now.
I'm not far from unsubscribing. I like the medium of usenet, though.
    That's what I'll miss.
