That sounds rather fabulous, I've never been sailing before. All the
boats I've ever been on have been dive boats.

A quick Google shows some pretty good deals too.

Aye. It's quite possible to do a two-week trip, first week learning
how to do it from scratch, then getting a day skipper's certificate
and taking your own boat out on a flotilla for the second week.

For that sort of thing I can recommend this mob
    http://www.sunvil.co.uk/sunvil/home/Activities/Sailing/default.asp,
who we used a couple of times some years back.
Well we paid Eu850 for the yatch, which really was a bargain.
Owner-operator, rather than a big fleet, so keeps his costs down and
is anxious to get the thing used whenever possible.

What sort of qualifications do you need to sail one of these?

I don't remember it getting that hot there.

"Non-tidal waters Day Skipper". As detailed in the above link. The
first time we went with those guys we both had sailing experience but
no formal qualifications, so we just did three days, shore-based, as
it were, in the first week, which was sufficient to bring us up to, or
in my case simply prove, the required standard, such that they'd let
us skipper our own boat for the second week.

There was at least one couple on that trip who had never sailed
before, whi spent their first week with four others on a training boat
and reached the required standard no problem. For a bareboat charter
such as we did this time you'd probably want to show a bit more in the
    way of previous experience.

Does quick calc. Naah, that's far too hot. Any time spent outside in
those temperatures simply makes you want to come into a nice
air-conditioned building. Last week we had to endure 40+degC[1] all
week, with no respite whatsoever. Not pleasant.

Back home it's about 30 degC, which is much nicer, IMO. Too hot in the
bloody office, mind, with no air-con.

Ditto. Of course being naked & sitting in front of a fan helps.

I found it bloody horrendous. Then again, I was competing in a 75km
    mtb enduro race.

Drank 9 litres of water in 7 hours and still didn't take a piss all
    day.
