Not too good im afraid. Although John has been diagnosed with advanced
prostate cancer he has developed a large bony tumour on his jaw that is
stopping him from being able to eat solid food so he has lost loads of
weight. According to the docs at the Royal Marsden seems this new tumour
could be a completely different cancer and is so involved with his jaw that
surgery is not an option!!!!!

On a positive note John is having a gastrostomy feeding tube fitted in his
tummy next week so at least he will be able to get some nutrition. He is
also starting his 3rd clinical trial this time its a new chemo derived from
marine sponges so fingers crossed.

Where did you go?

 

Sailing in the Saronic Gulf, south of Athens. Jude was over there for
a conference[1] so I flew out on the Friday night and Saturday we
picked up the charter boat, a 33ft 6-berth jobbie [2] and spent the
next six days sailing round various island and mainland fishing
villages.

Dead good, it were, if a bit hot (40+degC) and, at least initially, a
bit windy. First day out it was blowing a force 6, gusting 7 at times,
which after a five-year sailing break and on an unfamiliar boat was,
err, "interesting". Particulary with the fucking awful hangovers we
both had on the Sunday :-}
