  3. We're not after an apology. We'd be happy if you'd just put your opinions
back in the oven and not serve them up until they were_fully_baked, instead
    of only half so...
Politics: "Do exactly as we say or go to jail."
Religion: "Do exactly as we say or suffer eternal damnation in the
    afterlife."

    Seems pretty extreme, doesn't it?

The first rule in politics is never ask a question unless you know
what the answer is going to be. I take polls with a grain of salt and
I want to know who was asked, where it was asked, how the question was
worded, and what prompted the question.

Trouble is; most "religious" people don't seem to want to wait for you to
get your comeuppance at the pearly gates; they want to give you your
    punishment while you're still here!

God should insist on a demarcation ruling!

That is the biggest pile of shit you've ever posted Pete, and an
outright lie perpetrated on people by religion. These so-called
god-given morals came into being the first time three people got
together to live as a group. (Two people had other motives).

Do you think that before Moses came down off his mountain the Jews
spent their days killing each other and, when Moses said "Thou shalt
not Kill" and "Listen to your parents" and "Don't steal Stuff", they
said "Wow! That's a new concept".

Respecting other people's mates, and property and dealing honestly
with each other is a prime requisite for living in a herd or
community. It applies not only to people but also to reindeer, wolves,
lions, horses, cows, and any other animal that lives in a herd. Where
we differ from other herd animals is that when some-one transgresses
the herd mores we tend to execute them rather than banish from the
    herd.

Religion stole morals from the people and then pretended they gave
them to the people. Morals have nothing to do with God or gods. They
are basic rules we need to live as a community.

Learn to think for yourself Pete.

  11. So now there's difference between constructing loaded, leading phone poll
questions and running an election campaign on a platform of hysterical
paranoia... I don't see how... the success of both requires that the exact
same group of halfwits behave in a certain, predictable way.

  12. Seeing how you now go on to demonstrate that you've completely misunderstood
what I've written, no, that isn't the real reason.
What differentiates your opinion from the "norm" is that it comes from a
mindset which expends bugger-all mental energy on the reflection and
analysis required to form the opinion, a smidgen more on putting the opinion
into words, and the rest, which is the overwhelming majority, goes on trying
to put it across with histrionics

As a result, you come across like an infomercial; if a cursory glance at the
product doesn't convince anyone watching that it's all crap, the dismal
    production values should.

What you stand for falls over at slightest scrutiny, specifically because
you've just swallowed propaganda, added your inner insecurities and the
prejudices instilled in you during your upbringing, and proceeded to declare
the star patterns that mix inscribes on the footpath when you spew it back
    up your "opinion".

You provide a few more stones for the mob to throw right here:
Exactly as that society's leaders would like you to believe.
Exactly as church leaders would like you to believe...

You're a doormat, Pete. Programmable; and you pipe up among people who've
undergone the internal conflict required to rise above that to sing praises
    to blind acceptance.

What's even more baffling is that you watch Star Trek. That means you
would've seen how compelling "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of
the few" sounds when Spock says it. How can you make such a meal of
promoting the same? Weren't you paying attention?
Which is what, exactly, you unthinking, supine, reactionary conformist twit?

Big grin :) John Howard was voted in by the two-part preferred votes
of 47421 people being 57.7% of the people in the Bennelong electorate.
That doesn't mean he actually got that many primary votes. 34,000
people voted against him. Some 19,000,000 people, including myself and
Clem, never got the chance to vote for or against him.

    All which people?
