No, not the Valkyrie, or the purple goldwing, or whatever he rides. His trip to Yankee's Tavern.Since I can't go next week. Not a large crowd today, probably due to the weather, and I only stayed long enough to drink two beers and buy a Collectible Beer Mug to add to the collection (fucking tourist!) Won't go into a whole lot of detail, cause I don't wanna ruin Jerry's fun, but will say the place was a lot cleaner than I expected, and the two girls behind the bar were a lot more attractive than I anticipated.(I like chicks with nose rings, no idea why). Took 249 up to Magnolia, 1774 to Anderson, 244 to Carlos. Some road contstuction between Plantersville and Anderson, but nothing major. Managed to avoid most of the rain until just before I got to Carlos, then got a smattering, for about 2 miles. (My first rain riding experience!) Before heading home, go ahead and go down the road to the lake, and check out the spillway and stuff. Dude working the gate didn't seem interested in charging a day use fee for just riding around real quick. Not EXTREMELY interesting, but worth the 10 minutes it'll take out of your day. Came home via 149 to 1486 to 1774. 1486 had a lot of construction on it, mostly on the shoulder, but between 105 and 1774 it was pretty sucky, as they had repaved the shoulder, and about 3 feet of the lane, and I didn't really feel like testing how good a job they had done as making the road flat in the transition, especially since the roads were wet. If I had it to do over, I probably would have stayed on 149 on thru Montgomery and down to Pinehurst, but I've done 149 from 105 back to Pinehurst fairly frequently, and hadn't been down 1486 in several years. (That is a fine stretch of road though, if you can catch it when everybody and their brother isn't headed to Lake Conroe). Managed to mostly skirt the rain and stay pretty dry until I got nearly home, when it decided to shit down some rain on me, about 2 redlights before the house. All in all, a nice ride, and I got some much needed rain/wet riding experience. Thanks Jerry.
