    Disaster for Ducati

Oh dear woe is me. Harga must be rueing the day he decided to switch teams.
Allthough watching Spies maybe it wouldn't have made much differance to the
result if he stayed with the blue boys.

I know that it's not healthy for Ducati to win every year but I don't own a
Yamaha and I just brought another Duke.
Who was it that said "the guy who comes second ...is just the first guy to
    loose"

Still it's early days yet, but I see a patern forming and it doesn't look
    good from here.

There is a silver lining though...Silence from Hatz....it's almost worth it

I wouldn't be feeling too sad for them just yet; Haga is still leading the
    championship!
I don't feel sad for Suzuki either. They must be very happy they signed
Capirossi to a 2-year MotoGP deal and let Spies go.
I could never figure out why they left Mladin in the AMA when they were so
short of talent in the WSG and MotoGP in years past either. When asked the
question Mladin would shrug and say "they know where to find me...."

Yeah; Mladin SAID all these things when there were no offers on the table
and it's probably too late now) but I remember how eagre he was to ride the
990 Suzook at Phillip Island one year when there was a sniff of a chance of
    a wild card.

I think as much as anything he was keen for the wild card to get a
chance to prove he was as good or better. There was always a bit of a
    "yeah but it's only AMA"

    JL
(going by the interviews dunno how much you can rely on that though)

If you recall, Bayliss got his ride in the AMA for the Ducati team, then
was recruited midseason onto the WSBK team after Foggy injured himself
at PI, and despite missing the first 6 races finished as the top Ducati
rider for the season... and just looking down the list of past AMA
    champions.. E Lawson, W Rainey, D Chandler, D Polen, S Russell, T
Corser, N Hayden.. Only AMA indeed !

Mmm I wasn't implying I thought that myself - I think Spies and Corser
are showing that AMA are generally quite strong (and for that matter Rea
and a few other are showing the same for BSB). I just do recall a few
comments in interviews or in his magazine column (whichever of the 2
aussie mags it is) that gave me the impression he felt a few people said
that or thought that about his titles

I think the fact that Spies slugged it out toe to toe with him for two
seasons and both times won with a point or two in it shows Mat would do
well in SBK - motogp - who knows - Edwards hasn't made it, and Bayliss
struggled until that memorable Valencia race.

Bayliss was only the fill-in in Japan. When he crashed both races he was
replaced by Luca Cadalora for the Donington round but was then full-time
    from Monza on.
So he missed the first 4 then the 7th and 8th races.
Yeah; you keep hearing how they need more American participation but Yanks
have won 8 championships (2 Merkel, 2 Polen, 2 Edwards, Koscinski and
Russell) to Pommies 7 (4 Fogarty, 2 Toseland and Hodgson) and Aussies 5 (3
    Bayliss and 2 Corser).
The only other nation with a win (and the only Euro) is France with Raymond
    Roche.
