I Spy Switchgear

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by sweller, Mar 23, 2008.

  1. I used to hate them. Now I've got used to them, I can see that the
slightest flick of the thumb to operate the switch is, in fact, rather
    good ergonomics.

What is *utter* shite is the 'cancel' button. And I can never hit the
horn button first time, either, not even after two years of ownership.

I couldn't on my K100RS. What's telling is the fact that I'd got
pretty proficient in using the BMW gear normally, but come the time
someone pulled out of a queue in front of me I and instinctively hit
the wrong button and turned on an indicator instead of sounding the
    horn.

Another make that shall remain Hnameless uses a similar system, just
without the cancel button. Works rather well, IME, but then again I
never found the BMW system the chore a lot of people seem to think it
    is.

The main annoyance is really when you're furiously indicating because
    you missed the horn *again*.

I quite like the indicators now. Took a while to get the right thumb
trained to hit the cancel button.

Even after 7 years, I struggle to get the horn first time. I got fed up
giving people loud blasts of right indicator and have largely stopped
    trying to use the horn.

The whole point of a K is that if someone pulls out in front of you it
doesn't matter, you just crush them and ride on.

  7. Try looking on the left-hand switch cluster for the horn button.....
