  1. So... I spent a few hours yesterday replacing the steering head bearings
    and fork bushes/seals on the WR[1]

    I wasn't sure what oil weight to use in the WR since the manual just
    refered to a particular oil (only use suspension oil 01) so I googled...
    and found this particular gem:

    Yeah, right. It really is that simple...

    I'd never really realised how complicated forks could be with the
    pistons, valves etc etc. Wonder what the ones on the GSXR are like...
    I think the GSXR is probably due a fork oil change but I doubt I'll
    strip them.





    [1] Why is it often cheaper to buy dirt bike parts from the states than
    from the UK on eBay?

  2. Kayaba 01 perchance? 5 weight, I think.
    The guy doesn't know the difference between a seal and a dust cover, his
    advice only applies to traditional forks, he forgot to mention the minor
    job of removing the front wheel, but apart from that, what's the problem?

  3. Local MX shop recommended 7.5. Feels fine but I haven't taken it to an
    MX course yet.
    YZ and WRs since well... I don't know when are upside down forks. You
    need to split the forks into two parts to get the seals out.

  5. According to my Clymer, 7.5 upwards can be used to increase the damping.
    Indeed. I replaced the seals on my '98 YZ a few weeks ago. It seems to
    eat the damn things.
