....he seems to have the mind of a child in many ways. clearly classy
on the bike, and definitely mature in some ways. but immature and
    simple in many others. callow.

guess that's a result of being a prodigy and growing up in an insulated
world not representative of the real world.

the net being for me, the book took some of the lustre off of my
    opinion of rossi.

I could not get past the first 10 pages for the same reason. I'm sure 12
    year-olds love it, though.

being well-read and callow are not mutually exclusive.

Ball Four! by Jim Bouton is the best sports book I have read that was
    actually written by the player.

Of course you have to be a baseball fan...

So far the only motorcycle racer book biography or autobiography
has been the one by Carl Fogarty and the one by Wayne Rainey.
I haven't read Barry Sheene's but Motogenius, and all of the other
books about Mick Doohan, Colin Edwards, and Carl are not that
    good in my opinion.

Haven't read the book... but you may be taking Rossi more seriously than
    he takes himself...

You don't get to be that good without humility.

That must be the best description of Mark N that I've ever read on this
    newsgroup.
