Well if the flash can't be seen I must have something wrong with my
    eyesight.

You haven't. You can see what looks like a flash when you trigger one.
It *may* be a shutter movement or something similar, but you can
    definitely tell you triggered it.

Fair cheers me up through Stopsley on occasion, does that.

I suppose they have to have some sort of visual indication that they are
working if they are to justify being a deterrent rather than stealth
    revenue collectors.

Why just visible? How about a loud "KER-CHING!" as they go off?

If that's what I think it is, then let me know. I'm going to be away for
a week from Saturday and if the thing needs taxing I'll "make
    arrangements".

My licence is over two years old now, so I can play with 12 points.
IIRC, one can have six points on a "new" licence, when it ticks over
    to 7 then it's a retest.
Yeah. I understand the differences between the two (Gatso = Rear of
vehicle, Truvelo = Front of vechicle) and I deffo went head on into
the path of a Gatso, which flashed at me, but only when I got to about
    43mph, really close to it.

I don't want to make a habit of it, but it's just something I'd never
had the opportunity to do before.

Good point. Motorway lifesavers are something that I'll just have to

    I can't sleep. I wonder if that's a side effect.

    I'm working 11am - 7pm tomorrow (today, I suppose) so I'll still
probably pop out at 9am and have a quick zoom around on my way to
    work.

So if you 'triggered' it, you'd have it behind you taking perfect pictures
of your rear plates. Unless you found ones that flash as you go towards it
    meaning:
    a) It was on the other side of the road
    b)It was old
    c) It was running out of film
    d) It was a bit pointless, really.

You could stick extra front nuymber plates on your ER-5 and do that all day
every day, You wouldn't get a ticket.

  20. There's some type of forward-facing camera which definitely does,
because there's one on the A21 as you approach Tunbridge wells, and it
now has several pix of me doing 100+, with my finger held at it in the
    Traditional Gesture.
