I'm lookin' to travel to the UK next year and I'd love to see some of it on
two wheels instead of four. I wanna do some by boat too down those far
canals ya have over there. I wanna know when is a good time to do it. I'd
prefer a tour group but if a group of ya's ride often then maybe I could tag
along. Anyone know what the price of hire bikes are over there. No smaller
    than a 500cc though.

Winer emerged from their own little world to say
You've come to the wrong group really. Nobody here will know much about
hiring bikes and companies operating guided tours in the UK.

Best times of the year: June or September as it is warm enough and the kids
    are in school

Try over on rec.travel.europe or rec.motorcycles as people there may have
personal experience of companies. I've cross-posted it for you.

When I asked around for a friend a short while ago the general answer
was that prohibitive insurance costs meant very few bikes for hire.
You might do better picking a large dealer and see if they'll do you a
    sale and buy-back deal.

  4. A quick Google for 'walking holidays UK' and 'canal holidays UK' might
help. See also the Ramblers' Association, which is probably the best
    place to start.
