It makes it almost impossible to get about. I think a lot of people are

think some real political pressure is beginning to emerge to force a
change in practice. Other cities manage to upgrade and extend their
systems with far less disruption than is currently happening in London.

I appreciate this is not much compensation but if you are visiting again
there is some merit in using the buses in Central London rather than the
Tube. Buses are often just as frequent and give you the benefit of a
mini sightseeing trip as you get about in the central area. It also
helps you to join the different parts of the City together which the
Tube doesn't really do. It's not that hard to learn the key routes with
the benefit of a Central London Bus Map or else I'm happy to give some
pointers as I know the network very well.

I'm long past the stage where I care too much whether I'm in a minority
or indeed whether a candidate 'appears' to belong to a party to. So
long as what's needed locally gets done, they'll get my vote.

I just think they are a grossly expensive pseudo form of private
transport that clogs up London's roads and which has no real public
service remit. I also have an irrational dislike of taxi drivers. I
don't claim to have any sort of rational or sensible view on this
point so don't expect any level of coherent argument.

I agree completely about taxi drivers, particularly around Leeds/Bradford.
But the alternative is buses <shudder> and the problem with Tubes in London
is I can't hold my breath for 30 minutes. Is there some sort of less
obvious NBC suit and respirator one can wear.
