    .....Robbo is not slow.

Having completed an intensive course in going faster and despite the
appalling conditions we award him "Fairly Quick" status. Silver level.

    Take a bow.

    AN HOUR WITH GOWER!

    Well more like 2½ really.
Further to my post a while ago about confidence etc while riding, Mr Gower
of this parish emailed and suggested a little run round up near his place to
iron out any problems I have.
Not being one to refuse an offer from an esteemed rider and instructor (Not
that a freebie would be refused you understand) we made arrangements to meet
at a mutually convenient point not far from a certain Cane person of this
    parish's works.
A short tour of Factorie De Cane and introduction to the laser machine was
nice (As was the young lady that made the coffee) while I killed time
    awaiting the Gower.
Met at Birchwood Hangar services, coffee and pleasantries then trundled
(assertively filtering <85) up lane 2a of the M11 toward Biggleswade.
Constructive advice on my leg and body position on the SOBeemer at first
stop after the motorway provided me with proof that, although I *knew" where
to sit etc, I wasn't actually doing it. Filtering technique proved to be god
    as well.
Several runs through some nice open long twisties while still in a tense
body position proved I wasn't relaxed. Until the tight r-hander and then
l-hander which had me leaning heavily on the front brakes instead of leaning
into the bend I realised I *REALLY* had to relax more. Lesson learnt there,
read the road better and enjoy/relax!
There must have been a little Snake Oil on the road in places as when Alan
let rip his bike snaked around like a live tadpole, although possibly the
tadpole would have been less twitchy.
Several more runs through the long bends following Alan after being told
"Stay around *that far* (40m) away from me and stick with it and you'll be
fine". Getting smoother, progressively more relaxed and beginning to trust
the bike in the conditions of wet/dry/wet/dry and it was working.
After a few more runs in front I had him accelerating quite quickly to catch
me through the now familiar corners and along the straight.
Couple more de-briefings and advice and I was now really beginning to enjoy
the riding style I was acquiring.
With dampness abounding in the form of drizzle retire to his place for
    coffee.

I can honestly say that with some simple sensible advice, demonstration, and
input in the form of simple explanation I am now MUCH more confident in
    riding more smoothly and "assertively".

Many thanks Alan, for your patience and understanding, and for taking time
    out to help.
Owe you a pint or two if you get to the BOSM in April unless we do it again
    in a month or so.
