.... it is to ride the M4 eastbound on a Sunday evening for all
    eternity.

The fact that I was able to smoke three cigarettes between Newbury and
the Hogarth Roundabout should indicate how well it was flowing today.

At least the were no suitcases to avoid, like yesterday.

I've had the pleasure many times - it's shit. The sooner they build the
Taunton - Slough tunnel the better.

The (stationary) queue to get on the M25 stretched back past the
previous junction, into the narrow lanes section.

  7. It was OK in mid-afternoon. I diverted to Didcot to pick up those tyres,
and got home just after 3pm. The M25 was a bit gunged, mind.
Ah yes. Stupid incompetent twat who couldn't load his roof rack
    properly.

Bollocks to that - when are they going to start cheap flights from Newcastle
to Minehead International Airport ... with a carrier that allows pets to be
    transported?

We've done the Easyjet to Bristol quite a few times and, other than the pet
thing, the big draw back is that it means either paying for a hire car or
getting the MiL to collect us from the airport.

By the time you've added the cost of kennels for 2 dogs for a week, airport
parking and MiL petrol for 100-or-so miles it's not that budget any more.
Given that, IIRC, private pilots aren't allowed to accept any money from
their passengers other than the proportional cost of the fuel it would be an
awfully big favour to ask. But if he could take us down this Friday and
pick us up the following Saturday that would be great.

If you're not very confident at that, sneak through the short cut and
have a fag but don't rejoin too early as they'll know that you've got
back a bit too soon compared to normal.

    Heh. Fair takes me back...

Cunning buggers have thought of it, unfortunately. I have to land and
    get signatures.

Sheesh! I ask one little favour and you can't even get your arse in to gear
to get it sorted for me.

    Call yourself a mate indeed.
There may be a larger than normal amount of taxi-ing involved in the
    'flight', that's for sure.

Anyway - as luck would have it there's a cricket pitch right next to my
MiL's house ... you're allowed to land on those, right?

I'm crap, aren't I? You probably don't want to fly with me anyway.

Oh yeah. so long as there's no game in progress.

  18. Depends who is playing. Some teams might welcome the distraction[1]..

    Phil.

[1] Is that a valid reason for calling a draw? Difficult to play with
huge great landing wheel marks in the centre-crease..

Am I the only one here who enjoyed cross country running? Who the hell
would want to run round and round an oval anyway? Cross country is
fun. Not fun enough to get fit enough so i can do it again mind. I bet
that's how the rambler's Association got started, a bunch of cross
    country runners who've got old.
