I'll give you five minutes. If you're not doing it properly by then, I'm
putting a collar on you and making you my bitch.

*More* than enough. You're very kind.
Will there be studs in the collar?

I thought you might like some time to get the vacuum pump going.
    Of course. Inside and out.

Ah, then I must respectfully decline. Studs make me itch.

Anyway, I've decided that my "Who's the Uncle?" line wasn't really
cutting it. I shall leave you in peace, until the next time she has
    hiccups.

Hum. Given that I don't think I'd make much money from pimping you out,
    I shall accept.
A service which no other could perform as well as you, you have my
    sincere thanks.

Or the folks who I saw commuting today for the first time since I've
been riding to Northampton and back three times a week since last
    September ...

All through the winter time they hid themselves away,
Afraid of all the cold and damp, afraid of that nasty salt spray.
All through the winter time they hid inside their cage,
Then all at once the sun it shone and out they came to play ...

It's been awfully lonely out there apart from the despatchers.

    lol :)

I have to admit, on the really cold days I had to wonder whether they
    didn't have the better idea.

I often felt like that until the traffic snarled up on the ringroad
going into Northampton, then I revelled in the smugness of breezing
past all the cages in the six mile queue each Thursday morning. Eight
months on and it still makes me smile (even more so now that the sun's
    warming my back).

Just wind up the revs another 3K , works for me.

Thanks to whoever said that bimbling along at high revs ready for
progress was a pain in a 600. I'd been quite happy at 6K but when you
sit at 9K it's just that little bit quicker, the front even skips a little.

Although I have to concede that revving the nuts of the bike is quite
noisy, but hey I'm not looking at the speedo so how else will I tell
    that I'm going rather quickly.

Even if I offer to sell it to you for a bargain price ?

It's red and it goes rrrrrr just like a real bike should.

Ditto for me. All winter I saw maybe 3 bikes at most on my
morning/afternoon ride. Today there were 8 or 9 in the other direction
on the freeway and I was passed[1] by an R1 and a Norton 750 (in
    immaculate shape) BTW.
We don't have those here (maybe in SF).

[1] I'm being good just in case that nice CHP officer is listening

I admit I would do the same if I had a cage, but I don't.

  18. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Bear amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
    Heh.

I'll be using the mootar this am, not because it's cold and will likely
be raining on my return but because I couldn't decide if I wanted to go
the "back way" or on the motorway. I chose the back way and decided it's
easier to read a map from the comfort and safety of a car.
