Fucking pitiful it was. I was out in the Shagwah this afternoon, and got stuck behind a truck doing 40. Ho-hum, but it was only a couple of miles to a dual-carriageway, so I sat and waited. A 9R came up behind me, so I shifted left, and eventually he trundled by. And I do mean trundled... Leisurely top gear roll-on, from forty. Then we hit the dual carriageway, and matey tucked in tight behind the screen. And went up to a blistering 75. We passed a GATSO shortly after that, and he slowed to 70 (as did I), and sat up. Then he tucked in tight again and sped up to 75. He was in a full-on racing crouch. Doing 75. I passed him and carried on. It's posts like these which make me feel less thick ^^^^^^^ Agreed! and I meant in the OP that the Bling ridden in earnest (As in trying to catch something more sporty) was NOT a good idea at his age or for a machine of that ilk. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, steve auvache Oh, I don't mean it in a *nasty* way. He's a TC, and that's one of his enduring... err... things. Actually, it's time for A Terrible Admission. The first time I met Robbo (at an Ally Pally show, IIRC), I heard him talking and... I thought he was Cane. Oh dear, I suspect I've just upset two people. -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - Manufacturer of the "Champion-105" range of rearsets and Ducati Race Engineer. shagwah [1] = jaguar car. A recent acquisition in the Eaton garage. [1] I think this may even have an Austin Powers type film connection but as I am clueless about the movies I may be talking complete and utter bollocks.
I thought we'd done the "you don't have to be doing 190 mph" for a racing crouch to be a good idea" thread. IIRC it went along the lines of "if your neck's tired then any amount of sheilding from windblast gives blessed relief". Even if I dreamt that thread, "you're on a sportsbike and shouldn't be in a racing crouch at 75mph" isn't that far from Jackie's "you're on a bike and you shouldn't be sitting in queues".

Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Christofire Well, yes. But he sat up when he dropped to 70 past the GATSO, then went back into to go back up to 75. It reminded me of me on my Fizzie, trying to eke that last .000001 MPH by lying on the tank. Possibly.
