    And today I was unscrewed.

Or, in slightly plainer terms, today I had the screw in my heel (from my
    climbing accident last May) removed.

So, I've got a *HUGE* bandage on my foot (**** knows why) and no biking
until at least next Tuesday, when I go to see my consultant again.

Once again Hexham hospital rocked - they may be more used to dealing with
people who've been crushed by tractors and removing farmers from sheep, but
they don't do a bad bit of surgery.

I was checked in at 8am, in theatre by 9am and in the car on the way home at
1pm. They operated on the right foot (the left one, just to confuse
matters), I can still walk, albeit not at any pace exceeding fast hobble,
and they've done such a neat job I haven't needed any painkillers since the
two paracetamol they gave me when I came out from the anaesthetic.

Anybody who wishes to send me GWS cards, flowers, grapes, chocolates,
ciggies or huge plastic dinosaurs should feel free to do so.

Erm, that's great, thanks. I'll treasure it forever.

  4. Since you're not currently occupying a hospital bed, you can **** right
