And today I was unscrewed. Or, in slightly plainer terms, today I had the screw in my heel (from my climbing accident last May) removed. So, I've got a *HUGE* bandage on my foot (**** knows why) and no biking until at least next Tuesday, when I go to see my consultant again. Once again Hexham hospital rocked - they may be more used to dealing with people who've been crushed by tractors and removing farmers from sheep, but they don't do a bad bit of surgery. I was checked in at 8am, in theatre by 9am and in the car on the way home at 1pm. They operated on the right foot (the left one, just to confuse matters), I can still walk, albeit not at any pace exceeding fast hobble, and they've done such a neat job I haven't needed any painkillers since the two paracetamol they gave me when I came out from the anaesthetic.
