The deep freeze continues and it just keeps on and on with the
    bad weather..

During a break in the precipitation, I made a run to the tax office
to pick up the new tags for the Green One..

Got back to the mobile casa and there was one of the old friends
sitting there, patiently waiting for me.. He told me that he knew I
wasn't far away and would get back soon, because the Green
Vulcan was sitting on the mexican's patio, all covered ..

I cranked up the Gucci coffee pot and brewed us a strong, fresh
pot of excellent Folgers.. That old stuff sure hits the spot on days
    like this..

While we sipped and talked, my old friend (sheesh, I think he's
older than me, if you can believe it) opined that this damned
weather stinks.. I mentioned that it was unusual, alright and that
areas in California were under siege, just like us.. Seems like the
citrus growers out there are losing crops and trees.. West Texas
is having bad stuff just like we are.. with no relief in immediate
    sight..

My old buddy took a sip of that good Folgers, complimented it's
good taste and aroma.. then he squinted with that faraway look in his
eye.. "If that damned George Bush would pay attention to someone,
we wouldn't have all this stuff".. HUH ? "Well" he continued, "Gore
has been telling us that this was going to happen, if we didn't do
something about all this pollution stuff.. see here.. he was right"

Well.. I hadn't thought about that, but.. it sure makes sense to me..
With all the other screw ups that Bush has been responsible for in
the past six years, he's gotta be behind this, too.. I'm gonna write
a letter to my Congresscritter about our suspicions.. I know there
must be a law to cover this kind of mess.. if there isn't, there sure
    oughtta be.. Regards

Poor old George can't catch a break, can he. All the Democrats are up in
arms about global warming, so George fixes it, so now folks are bitching
    about the new ice age.

    Make up your minds, folks!

Nope, will be in California at least til the end of the month. Gonna put
a new tire on the Electraglide Saturday, and the temp is supposed to be
near 60, so I think a riding weekend is in the works.

Well, have a good ride.. Looks like we'll be having another lost weekend
in Texas.. I haven't even unwrapped the Green One this week.. Ah well, when
it does break, I'll be making up for all this lost time..

Where do you think you will be settling when you finally make your way back
    to Texas ? Regards

I live in Austin, work takes me out of state. I have an idea when this
project is over I'll just be passing through long enough to change
clothes, although there is a chance I'll be unemployed long enough to
    enjoy it.

Politicians are good, mind you, but none of em', as good as they
(think?) are, can sucessfully mess around with momma nature. We can
blame them for lots of thangs, but not the weather.
-I love the part of that great song by Randy Travis that goes something
like this; '....as long as old Men sit around and talk about the
weather, and as long as old Women sit around and talk about old Men''.

That's interesting but.... Would that deter thievery, or
simply hasten the destruction of your sticker, as the perp
continues to peel the small pieces away.

IOW, do you think that someone intent on stealing your
sticker would preemptively notice your ploy and move
    on, or just start ripping?

    Thanks,

If anyone else has noticed, the sticker has the same information on it
that the license plate does. IOW, if they steal the sticker, it does no
good since the license plate information it goes new on wouldn't match.
This is where a good locknut and bolt set on the plate comes into play
keeping someone from stealing the entire plate.

FWIW, I've had my tags stolen from motorcycles before...but have never
had anyone take the time to peel a sticker from the plate. After about
the third time of having to go get new plates and inspection, I now
bolt the plates on where it's next to impossible to get off the
motorcycle quickly. Then again, I guess they could just break the
fender off the bike....but that might be too noticeable riding around
on a Suzuki GSXR with a Honda Shadow rear fender!

Slicing the sticker with a razor blade 10 times or so after you've
placed it on the plate (five horizontal, five vertical) usually keeps
thieves away. Makes peeling a waste of time.
