Today was 'try out the satnav on the bike' day. Ain't it weird having
someone give you directions direct into your ear while you ride. I've
paired my Zumo 550 with my Scala Rider FM and my phone so I've been
chatting on the phone, listening to MP3s and the radio while riding.

I've noticed one major change - when I'm listening to the radio or MP3s
my riding goes to shit, so I'll be leaving those turned off. I've also
noticed one smaller change... I didn't get lost going to my mum's 8
    miles away.

The next step is surely a nice BMW, perhaps an LT.

Out of interest, where did you pick up the positive feed for the Zumo?

There is absolutely zero room under the seat for that.
Something like that mounted in the dash surround panel would be better,
so I could run the SE car charger lead into the Baglux bag[1] and
    charge the phone etc

[1] Black Baglux cover and Tweety bag on order from GLF.

The very same one I put on the CBR600RR for the Elefant, I would
    recommend it very highly.

Listed as Item number: 300290255860 from Towzatronic , 12v Motorcycle
Waterproof Accessory socket, Loom + Plug. That's the 1.2m one.

I used a Switchcraft free plug, socket and sealing cap for mine -
bought from Rapid Electronics who proved to be speedy and reliable.

    URL:http://www.rapidonline.com/Cables-C...-Weathertight-connectors/63564/kw/switchcraft

I actually used the coupler (flying) socket, but the fixed one looks
    as good.

Out of interest, why didn't you use e.g. the tail light circuit so that
you can be sure that power is off when the ignition's off?

Many, including me, don't in order to keep the satnav on while filling
up with petrol, stopping to take photos etc. etc..

Fair point. Might rethink my satnav power strategy...

I've also got a switch in the dashboard so that if I want to take the
Zumo with me, say for a longer break, I can quickly knock the power
off before removing it from, or replacing it in, its cradle.
