I don't give a monkeys about targeted adverts and if I have anything I
don't want plod to know about I won't be sending it or storing it
    unencrypted email.

Apart from the odd bit of high-speed hoonery, I can't think of much I do
that'd be of interest to plod anyway.
It might go direct. It might be transparently redirected via an ISP's
mail systems. It'll almost certainly go through something that allows
    content scanning.

If you want to communicate unintercepted, Internet email isn't the way.

Sorry, I thought we were playing 'Give us a clue'

And as for a misquote, you couldn't shoehorn that line in there with a
    crowbar!

Precisely how does your method prevent that from happening?
Via, I'll wager *at least* one other host in either direction, the
admins of which are at total liberty to peek, harvest or otherwise do
what they like with it [1]

As for sending direct to destination, if you're *really* sending without
using a smart host that's *way* more trouble than it's worth IMHO.

[1] In line with their AUP, natch.

I worked on the interweb back before Al Gore invented it and I haven't got
a fucking clue what the innards of IMAP is all about and I don't give a
fucking toss either. Either it works or it doesn't. If it works and it
works in a way that suits what I call proper look and feel with a user
friendly experience that this particular pinnacle of userdom considers
good enough then fine. If not then it is just so much unmitigated crap
    that only cunts use.

Because mail servers are for ISPs or companies or tossers without a life
and have no place in that great firmament called user space.

  11. But why would you want seventeen different ways to gather your email? Do
you get the postman to deliver to a number of different addresses on
different days of the week or have different postal addresses for each
letter or parcel you expect? If not then why expect the same from the
    interweb?

No it is not about syncing up an organisational abortion masquerading as
appropriate use of modern technology but getting all the mail delivered to
the one destination you are going to read it in the first place.

    I don't. I have one.
You are either foaming at the mouth again, or we are at crossed purposes.

All my mail lives under the TV. I can access it from any of my devices,
relevant to whatever I am doing at that time. Phone, laptop, ipad whatever.

That, to me, hardly seems to have anything to do with having different
    methods of delivery.

Better even than that. Different addresses that I do genuinely use can
also be managed in the same way.
