First CB's the PRC77 then SINGAR now the net. Damn thing accelerated
from the late 70's to early 90's. Freq hopping, built in encryption
FM, one radio out the door might give the same range as if it had an
Amp. The next seriel number down could BARELY make 10km. I wasn't
commo...that's why I only got to bury DR8 lines on occasion.

I learned Basic on an Apple IIe in high school. We also had a coupla
mainframe terminals that were sort of a teletype kinda thing, no
monitor. My first home computer rocked the 2400 baud modem and connected
to the internet via AOL. I can't believe I just admitted that in an open
    forum.

I think in order to top Skooter, someone's gonna have to come in and
tell us how they hung wires for the telegraph, and sent messages to a
guy with an abacus on the other end.

Oh, congrats on the Ironbutt too Skooter.

some how that led to this...I'm sure alcohol abuse has to be involved
    somewhere.

I still used it. Break out the books! Of course I do recall one
channel and coding that no non-american would ever decode. It was an
internal, internal, internal TC access only channel and higher wasn't
allowed. It was to Taco Channel.

  6. OMG, you're just a kid! My high school didn't even have a computer in
the office, or library! I can verify that because my senior year, 6th
period, I worked in the office. 5th period I worked in the library.
I can file faster than most computers can... um.. defrag. ;-)
True. I have used 2 cans and a string but it's hard to keep the
string tight at such long distances.

Too bad my friend Bob is no longer with us, or I'd have asked him to
weigh in. The WWW, brought to you by the ASCII guy. Bob was a hoot.
He hated Windoze. Preferred DOS. He thought I looked cool in my
leathers and he liked my bike. ;-)
    From me too, Skooter.

Uh Oh -- I don't remember mentioning that on tx.moto, you
must be opening my mail before I get it. One thing is for
sure, that SS-3000 patch is the last one for me, I'm getting
way too old for that crap. It's gone from being fun to
being a endurance contest rather than just a long distance
    ride.
    YMMV

''WestTexasRider'' wrte" ''JayT,There are a few "old-timers" you left
out, that were around a lot longer than you and even Louie. I'm one of
them. I've been posting on Usenet a long time.

==actually my first MC forum adventure was right here on TxMo, in 99, I
    think.
Oh, I know I left out many of the regulars who were pretty active, when
    I got here.
Like: Albert Nurick, Charles Soto, Elmer somebody, Bownse, The Family,
Another Viewer,,,. Shoot in those days, TxMo was almost as high in the
    ratings, as Reeky.
WestTexasRider, what I meant, was besides you, that Louie and I (&Jerry)
are probably the only TM veterans still saying stuff from the early
    Walker days.
Many of the ones mentioned above, were sorta ran off by some of the more
aggressive posters, in those soCalled good old (flaming) days.....You
    know what I'm saying... <grin>

--------I forgot that too... you're way older than I am. hehehe Let me
know when you need a motorized wheelchair. I think I know where I can
get one fairly cheap. <g> WestTexasRider)

========WTR, if you dont know where to get one of them mo-chairs, I am
sure, Jerry knows, because he is the TxMoto Buyer at Large., The only
side effect would be, Jerry would ''dis-assemble'' it first,
    probably.....<g> JayT=

I'll bet you'll find no stock seated Valkyries in
the Iron Butt ride. Those seats will put your ass
    in the hospital.
