I don't know what to say

  1. There are a few "old-timers" you left out, that were around a lot
longer than you and even Louie. I'm one of them. I've been posting
on Usenet a long time. Our first so-called "home computer" was a ZX81,
back in '82. Then we got a TRS-80 (Tandy CoCo). We made up up to III,
then stupidly went to a Packard Bell before we started building our
own. Did you know computers cost thousands of dollars back then? The
    did.
We got hooked up to the internet as soon as it was basically available
to the public, at least in our area. The very best connection was
14.4 on a land line... Whoo hoo, that was fast! har, har! Well
anyway, it's all ancient history and I do mean ancient. I probably
have one gray hair for every day I've ever posted on Usenet. That's a
    lot. hehehe
Btw, I'm a woman that doesn't mind being my age. I'm just happy to
    still be here. :^)

Why don't you pose the question, of how long folks have been on Usenet/
newsgroups and find out who the the old-timers are? Many still lurk
occasionally but never post. Some, I am sure, post once in a great
while, using different pseudonyms and never reveal who they are.
Newbies compared to others. A lot of the posters I remember, just
gave up a long time ago. !bungle, Wilkes, Daniel, Mike Henry and many
others. They were good posters but they moved on to other things.
Those I just listed, I have actually met IRL and ridden with, all
except Daniel. Real good people too. Too bad they don't contribute
    any more.
I'm house sitting right now. Not much else to do. I guess I could
head out on a trip somewhere but then I wouldn't be house sitting,
    would I? ;)
When we sell this farm and I get back to Breckenridge, I plan on
starting a small catering business. I doubt I will then have a lot of
    time for the internet.
Well, thank you. I do try to be entertaining, if not coherent,
    cognizant, whatever. ;^))
Most of the time, yes. <g>

    Best Regards,
    Sunny

Geritol, Geritol my kingdom for a case of it! I have a Trash 80 modle
III that I'm going to gut someday and but all new bits in...including
    a nice flat screen. 8^)

You are right some think they've been around a far bit and haven't
been here that long. I've only been here since, what? 98' or so?

  4. Go for it! I want to see it when you do. I think we still have our
ZX81 in a box somewhere. Our Atari is probably there too and I'm
wondering if it still works. I kinda miss it. Remember the old
Commodore 64s? That was my son's first computer. I had forgotten
about that one. Must be getting senile.
You were here when I started posting to tx.moto, so that sounds about
right. I didn't become a regular until about '00. Long before that I
was on other BBs, etc. My my, how time flies.

  13. I just about zombie-fied myself on Lemmings but both my now long time
adult kids were into The Legend of Zelda and the Zork Trilogy. My
daughter downloaded Zork a while back and still enjoys it's nostalgic
    value.
Years ago, back when they were the fastest and the most powerful
contraptions with a screen and a keyboard, Joe built me an SX486. I
loved that 'puter. I spent hours playing Doom. I maxed it. I guess
I'm not your average gal. I prefer riding motorcycles now but once in
a while, I get a twinge to play Doom. :)

    Memories ------- memories ???
I can remember how excited I was to get the latest 1200 baud modem
hooked to my R/S Model-I. Everything was FTP or Gopher, no
one had written a browser yet. I paid by the minute for connect
time so you downloaded, hung up, composed replies, dialed-up and
uploaded. I built this house on the ranch in 74 so it was in that
time period, and been online ever since, in one guise or another.
