I think he's got the message as a village in Conwy has been refused a
camera as they do not qualify as an accident black spot.

Although they have tried to deploy camera vans. They can't find anywhere to
park them without blocking the A5. Shame.

Many years ago[1] I used to have to cross the A2 in the morning to catch
    me bus to school.

At that spot[2] I had already seen 2 deaths and **** nose how much
claret in the gutters from the living. The residents had, partly though
my Dad who was a local councillor, been campaigning for a footbridge or
traffic lights or something before the carnage started extending to the
    pedestrians. All to no avail.

One bright and sunny day, clutching me rugby kit, satchel full of shite
and banged up old cornet, I stepped out into the road and got instantly
flattened by a passing cage that I just hadn't seen, a sort of smidsy in
reverse really. Fortunately I landed on my head so there was no real
    damage done.

A council money allocation meeting later and the minutes noted that
George was declaring an interest and would leave the meeting. When he
returned the money had been voted for a footbridge[3].

The moral being that these people should throw the local councillors
kids under passing lorries if they want something done.

    [1] 43 actually

[2] I see from Zaxx only today that it has finally got it's gatso.

[3] Kin waste of money as it turned out cos they turned it into a multi
lane car park a couple of years later.

The one described buy Zaxx sounds like the one opposite the golf
course, that has been there for *ages*. Like 3-4 years, minimum.

    Whereabouts?
For a couple of years I also had to cross the A2 to get to school, but we
had a footbridge by then (mid 1980s).

Cumberland avenue[0]?? Next one up from Hook lane towards Fallcoon
Woad[1] immediately before you leave the great and glorious county of
Kent and enter the foul and stinking domain of Londinium.

Been closed off for years though because of the number of fatalities
    there.

[0] I think it is called that.

[1] Falconwood according to the rules laid down by the BBC
pronunciation unit who obviously know **** all about anything and are
    based in Playstou

Buckingham Avenue? There's been a camera in each direction there for
    ages too.

The Kent/London border is down past the Black Prince nowadays.

Ooooh, nasty bad townie boys used to come from Welling and Falconwood when I
    was a lad.
'Inner city' ratboys came from Plumstead and Woolwich.
Erm... yeah, we had a very provincial view of 'London' in those days :)
FFS going to Dartford or Gravesend on a Saturday night was 'a night out on
    the town'.
Making it as far as The Crypt in Deptford was akin to a putting a man in
orbit, and as for getting to a gig at Hammersmith Odeon, well that had all
the kudos of a successful manned moon landing.
    Sad init?
ITSR there's a pedestrian underpass somewhere near there now, connects with
Blackfen somewhere near the Falconwood end of Lyndon Avenue.
Absolutely, and have you noticed how Erith (pronounced Earith locally) is
E-rith with a short e according to the beeb?
    Mind ewe, I pronounce it "should-be-nuked-from-orbit" :)
