I didn't want to do it...

...but I might just have too.

Adjust the carbs on the GSX1100F. Its running far too rich and plugs
are now only lasting a few days[1] before cleaning is required [2].

I am assuming that if I turn the mixture screw on each carb by the
same amount, I won't **** it up too much (like the GS550).

My biggest problem is the lack of a workshop manual. Can anyone
describe where the screws are and which way to turn them? (I could
live to regret this, or not)

[1] depending on distance travelled and style of riding
[2] christ the MZ was better than that

You *have* checked the air filter, right?

You mean the 'waterproofs storage area', right?

    Yep, and the breather pipe.

Didn't have an air filter when I bought it, may be I should take it
    off (just kidding).

Why kid? If the carbs had been set up correctly without a filter you
would get an over-rich mixture with one. Try running without for a
while and see if it's better. And/or replace with a K&N or similar.

Once I put my hand over the air intake and revved the bike, how I
stopped my hand being sucked in I don't know. If you work it out,
    1100cc, 4 cylinders, averaging 5000 rpm, that's a lot of air being
shifted, with the bike acting like one big vacuum cleaner.

K&N sound good though! Early Christmas present for my bike ;o)
