No I don't. I want one that's stock. I also detest light coloured
wheels, the Red K2 was the first gixxer to get black wheels, where the
K1's had white or silver.

Nah, I was having him on.

I looked over it yesterday when Frag was round. It's just too good to
let go. Ok, so it has a history, but the bike itself is immaculate now,
it has all the trick bits you could hope for and it owes me three parts
of **** all. I'd be a fool to sell it without getting a couple of years
use and pleasure from it.

 

You are of course correct and history counts for **** all if all is
right on it.
I just wanted the brakes is all ;o)

Where does all the stuff from dead race bikes go? is there a
publication/website/NG dedicated to this in the UK.

I don't want a K5, at any price. I really don't like the styling that
much and the seat is like a fucking plank. I'd rather buy a K4Z if I do
decide I want to change in the end.

There's the rub. If I bought a new K4 I'd have to start all over again
getting shite like a quality shock, Ohlins damper and all the other bits
that my K1 has. I'd end up with a bike owing me 4 times what my K1 does,
and it won't be significantly better. On a recent ride-out wth Daz we
were pretty much evens and he even said he wouldn't want to be going any
quicker than we were on the road, which is where my bike spends all its
time. Admittedly he absolutely kicks my arse big-stylee on the track.

And bloody good they are too, when the discs aren't trying to destroy
themselves. PFM are getting my business from now on, half the cost and 4
times the lifespan.

Maxton will be getting this one back soon for a rebuild and the addition
of a remote hydraulic preload adjuster[1] and new spring to suit my
weight.

[1] I'm only getting the remote hydraulic preload adjuster fitted so I
have something to bolt to the spare footrest mounts on the left side now
I've removed the pillion rests. It looks odd with the lug there and nowt
bolted to it.
