I Can't Believe I did this..

I was minding my own business.. Sitting here in my little work area in the
Mobile Home Casa.. just browsing through the newsgroup, when I heard
a motorcycle pull up in my driveway.. The mexican looked out the door
and quite surprisedly said.. "Brian is here .. and on his motorcycle"..

The weather reports had just announced that our temps were in the low
forties and were not expected to rise above fifty degrees.. WTF ?

Well, that son of mine came in and informed me that we were going to
ride over to Grapevine, visit the dealership there, as he needed to find
some handlebar grips and a pair of gloves.. something like that..

Now, you just gotta understand .. when I visit Grapevine Kawasaki, there
is no such thing as a quick trip and visit.. There's just too many great
people to fellowship with, in that place.. Customers and staff all seem to
share a bond of their mutual passion for motorcycles.. The owner is one
of the finest of gentlemen and quick visits are just not possible..

Against my better judgement and knowing full well .. my own limitations
with cold weather.. I proceeded to unwrap that Green Vulcan and crank
    'er up..

We threaded our way through Irving and circled the DFW Airport, finally
making that thirty minute ride to Grapevine.. Chilled to the bone, when I
parked the Green One, it didn't take me long to surround that hot cup of
coffee.. Not much visiting going on till I got all thawed out.. Ain't old
    age
    a bitch ? lol..

Anyway, Brian didn't find the custom grips he was looking for, but he did
pick up the gloves he wanted.. That's a good thing.. I managed to get all
my visiting attended to and Brian discovered a Joe Rocket jacket that he
couldn't live without.. The conventional motorcycle jacket he was wear-
ing looks almost like new, so I agreed to help pay for his new one, and
would take the old one for my own use.. We both made out like bandits
    on that little deal..

Time to start that ride back to LaCasa and much as I dreaded that cold
exposure, we reluctantly (me) we hit the road, again.. The temps had
fallen some more, at least it felt like it to me.. By the time we got back
home, the mexican had a big pot of stew simmering on the stove..

Just remembering how cold I was, sends shivers down my back.. It
was a good little ride and we enjoyed each other's company as well
as the company of that crowd of motorcyclists in Grapevine..

I'm sure looking forward to the balmy Texas spring weather, along
with the projected rides that are planned for this new year of 2007..

Yeah, the funny thing about raising the gas tank and putting low slung
drag bars on the Shadow, it has me sitting where I'll be scratching the
paint with that conventional jacket. Man, just modifying a motorcycle
you have to change your wardrobe too! Who'dve thunk it?

That's okay though, I got a great deal on this new jacket and it looks
    good too.
But it was a good ride yesterday too. I managed out my ride, then went
by and got you out and went by Grapevine before calling it a day just
about the time the sun started to go down.

Although, I didn't make it past Hico to ride the curves just south....

Well guys, I am glad you two made a ride, inspite the coldness.
Nothing like riding with family, and visiting around an MC Store, we do
    it all the time.
I also rode along with my Son and his friend yesterday too.
His friend rides a cutomized 06 black 1100Vstar. I rode it, and I didnt
particularly like the ''drag bars'', too low for me. I am in the market
for some fairly high rise bars.
Son had suggested I put em on the Valk, but not now.
That was one of the reasons he wanted me to go along, to try out the
    DragBars.
Also, the guy had moved his ''gears'' really too forward, I thought.
    I didnt like that either.
The other thing that I didnt especially like was he didnt have a
windshield. But after he rode the Magna, he said'' I am damn well gonna'
me a' Wind Shield'' But he wants a quick snap on and off -one- He's a
young feller, he wants to look ''cool''.
I noticed he wore one of them little bitty helmet ''Lid'' looking' type.
    Know what I'm saying?

We rode over to Prescott, and messed around there, and it was fun. We
ended up riding around the area, about 160 something miles.
BTW, it wasnt as cold here as you describe of in the Dallas area. But,
we 'did'' have to wear our Leather Uniforms, heh-heh-
    Oh yeah, very important note here, that I want on record;
''The ride was ''an out of Bowie county'' one, and, ''out of state
ride'', to boot! how about that, yall? Top that!
