Had the day off today to go shopping/spend quality time with SWMBO etc.
As I'm moderately tight, rather than visit the local House of Fraser,
open my wallet and say "help yourself" we pottered down to Swindon to
visit the outlet centre and buy similar stuff for significantly less
money. We got there just before it opened so as we went in the place was
    pretty much deserted.

Now, unbeknown to me the local BBC radio station was also there
collecting for children in need, and to promote this, they had people in
the shopping centre dressed in sci-fi costumes.

The first I knew about this was when I turned a corner to be confronted
by a genuine real live Dalek, coming at me fast[1], sink plunger and egg
    whisk armed and ready.

Now whilst I know that these are creatures of fiction, all those
Saturdays spent behind the sofa came back to me in a flash and it was a
genuinely un-nerving moment. Thankfully I was right next to Sofa
Workshop and was able to make my getaway.

The rest of the day was rather odd, but after that first encounter
,coming face to face with Cybermen, imperial storm troopers and a quite
improbably Tom Baker impersonator were not quite to shocking.

[1] OK, slow, but fast for a Dalek.

What with the title, I read as far as this and thought maybe you'd
    bumped into a certain ex-ukrmer. :eek:/

Not for a week or so, and to be honest his coffee has never had that
    effect on me.

They can, in fact, float up stairs.

The very narrow spiral staircase! Always make for the very narrow spiral
    staircase.

    Bwahahahahahahaha.

I once almost walked into Tom Baker by the Chandos pub in St Martin's
Lane. My only real(ish) Doctor Who moment.
And if you have Sat TV then tune to UK Gold and have a whole weekend of
Doctor Who as it's the 40th Anniversary of the first programme being
    broadcast.

    Right, that's tomorrow sorted then.

Up at 7am to watch 2 hours of Dr Who, then some rugby (interrupted by
swapping over to see what Dr Who is upto), followed by more Dr Who until
7pm, 2 hours of Fawlty Towers, then 3 special episodes of Men Behaving
    Badly.
