I'm a rufty-tufty beer festival attending CAMRA member, but I think
darsy and ogden are Up West at a show and therefore must be poofs.

What kind of wanky employment means you can't go out on a weekday
    evening?

School night, innit. Actually, I kind of assumed it was a daytime
thing. Can you have a 'festival' in an evening?

    Beer festival, certainly.

I've been known to go to other festivals (non-beer) that last several
    whole days. And nights! OMFG!

I must admit I don't bother pairing the phone with my TomTomRider, but
I do listen to its instructions via a Jabra BT320s picked up off ebay
    at a very reasonable price.
I use it with some senheiser (sp?) in the ear - bud style earphones,
which are a blessing as they're noise cancelling and have no problems
when I put my helmet on or take it off.

You don't find wearing in-ear phones under a helmet causes discomfort
e.g. when there is movement of your head within the helmet (always there
    is *some* of this)?

I've got a set of Sensorcom Microbuds with multifilament eartips, once
they're in they don't budge and are very comfortable. Can't really
recommend them for listening to Jimi Hendrix properly whilst cruising at
120mph on the autobahn due to too much background noise. Okay if you're
just bimbling along A roads though.

I can't speak for Brownz, obviously, but the buds I currently have seem
to bury deep enough that there's no helmet-bud interaction at all.
They plug the ear a bit as well, which cuts down on wind roar at $fast
mph. They ARE a pain to get out, if I pull my hat off with them in,
then they hurt. I have a small shoei X-1000 or something and it fits
snugly enough that I can shake my head and the buds are fine.

I've never tried mini speakers though.

How easy did you find it to position the speakers?

That is the biggest problem for me with Autocom - the speakers have to
be within 0.000001mm of the right position or there is no volume and bass.

    Plenty loud enough?

The FM one is tempting but as others said (I think Lozzo) my
riding/concentration goes to pot. I've been looking for an RDS solution
as well just so I might have a clue exactly how long I might have to
filter for, but it's just really a nice to have on a bike. I even went
as far as fitting a car radio on the Pan but it was just a waste of time
as I couldn't get decent reception.

For what I want, yes. I don't listen to music because (for me) the sound
    quality isn't really high enough.
