But its OK to advertise Lidls and Blockbusters in here ? and many of
the other places that get posted.

And don't say 'but thats not advertising because we don't work for
them' it is. There still commercial places

Bollx, its still a fucking advert, no different to any other advert or
post advertising some shop or other selling stuff so don't try and his
behind smart arsed comments. An advert for a shop or service is an
advert weather you work there or not.

Or would it be ok if someone had 'asked' for the product and he
    replied ?

If he's been one of the 'In crowed' I doubt he would have been flamed
    so harsh.

Look, I'll try an explain it.

An advert is to the commercial advantage of the person placing the
advert. If someone with no commercial connection to a company
mentions their products or services, then that is called a
    recommendation. See?

well at least I have done some good in this world, if only to massage
your ego and make at least one poor sole with a mental problem lost in
the big wide world feel better. I'm happy about that

    You're a bit thick really, aren't you?

Any chance you'd like to go away and read the charter? Then get a
dictionary, try reading the charter again, get a friend to explain the
long words to you, then come back here and give us your wisdom on
"advertising" again? Ta very much, like.

It's worlds apart. This is the same as an advert that pops up on ITV
between programmes. What you are describing is the same as a
tradename cropping up in a discussion on the BBC.
It would be 'OK' if he was a regular poster, that he posted for
reasons other than to promote his product and restricted himself to
advice when asked, and at other times a link in his .sig.
Yes he would, for behaving like that. No regular would do that
anyway, because they know the rules - and so do you, you're only out
for an argument. You will lose because you are wrong.

Eh? But they *are* being told about it. Repeatedly.
    Before they do it even.

So any abuse is quite deserved, as they are obviously too
fucking stupid to understand repeated warnings not to do it.

No idea about that. Over here it was quite clear in the acceptable use
policy that it was our network and we could suspend users for just about
anything we liked, whenever we liked and as often as we liked.
