HPC Coating on Exhausts

Has anyone had any dealings with that melbourne mob who do ceramic
    coatings on exhausts?

Specifically, anyone know how durable the coating is? I have a mild
steel system I picked up for a song, but which I'm reluctant to fit to a
bike because I don't want it becoming completely encased in rust within
    weeks.

  2. Not the Melbourne (shithouse weather) mob but I know a bloke who had some
Chevy headers done in Sydney. They looked very much the part but no idea
how it lasts. I'll try to remember to hunt up some details if you want?

That's what I need to hear about... the coating staying put and not
allowing rust to bubble through from underneath, the wat it happens with
hi-temp spraypaint. Although, are your extractors stainless, or a more
    cooking[1] variety of steel?

Letting on who did this for you and how much they rushed you for it
would also be appreciated... but knowing the coating doesn't flake off
    is useful.

Two blokes I know are giving good feedback on them now. Pretty much what
hoppi said. They get a work out, heat wise, on a Chev too.

I know of two Bike exhuasts done with the ceramic coat and they have been
ridden daily for 2 years and no fairings on these bikes, with a good clean
    up they look new.

Just for the sake of useful information *gasp* ... I wire brushed the
hell out of my headers and painted them up with hi-temp manifold paint
    and no bubbling problems.

A friend of mine used these guys for a satin black finish on his
    headers.

They're in Castlemaine. He posted his headers there, and got them back
about a fortnight later, looking absolutely fantastic. They've been on
the bike for 18 months now, and apparently still look the same.

Hmmm, ok... I did the same on my ZXR250 way back when; spent a whole
afternoon on it, laid down about four coats of paint, and still, within
about three months, the corrosion was starting to break through in
amongst the pitting near the header collars.

    Right annoying, it was.

....and they quoted me a price of some $50 less than the outfit in
Guildford Pete referenced. It looks like that's where my pennies will be
heading. Now, to get some pennies...

Well hey, it's expensive having a factory in a classy suburb like Guildford.

I think the secret is in the cleanup -- I used a rotary wire brush in
the drill press, and brought the pipe to it. It's probably easier
if the headers come apart individually though ... and my pipes weren't
really pitted to start with, just rust-coloured.
