Mate of mine just came back from his first trip overseas. Hawaii, Canada, most of Europe, but the big highlight on his list was Italy. He has a 600 Supersport and a mad Ducati fan. Naturally we wanted to get the tour of the factory. He bought a 10GB portable hard drive to store all his photos from his new digital camera. The drive crashed and he lost all the hundreds of photos of Hawaii, the Canadian Rockys, Niagara Falls. Every photo he had taken on the trip to that point. Which was the day after he left Bologna. -- Cheers Dave (Mojo67) FZR600 >> ZX6R >> ??? Brisbane http://users.bigpond.net.au/mojo67/mojo67.htm I used to never be able to finish anything but now I
If the pictures really are valuable, and irreplaceable, a data recovery firm would probably be able to recover most of the data if the drive hasn't been too badly damaged by a headcrash. It's not cheap of course, but probably cheaper than doing the whole holiday again. Nev.. '03 ZX12R
Not bad luck, but bad planning unfortunately. You can never be safe when you have only one copy of any vital piece of information. David
That is why I'm looking at a portable CD writer, like this one. Perhaps not as convenient, but a whole lot safer. http://www.centre.net.au/Apacer_DISC_STENO_CP200_CD_RW_Card_Reader_0006Q3.html Rob.
I use one of these portable hard drives for yonks....never had a single problem at all. Holds 20 000 odd photos & backs up as an MP3 player or portable HD. Cheap huge storage for $300.
