I just spent the afternoon doing some tinkering on the FJ [1], all in
the comfort of a heated garage :).

[1] cleaning brake pads and general lubes.

I've got one of those. More enviable as the 30A cable I run all the
electrics off doesn't appear to be connected to a meter.

No doubt there's some silvery haired pensioner a few doors down wondering
why her meter eats 50 pences.

We once went to look at a house for sale with a workshop in the garden.
According to the particulars it had "power and light" - neither worked when
    we visited,
to which the guy said "You don't need light, it's not dark yet".

When we had a survey done they found that the workshop was powered from the
    streetlight in the alley,
which was on a timer and only powered on in the dark!

We didn't buy the house, for other reasons...

    Your webshite doesn't work.

I painted my garage floor last Christmas - and the walls. It looked
pretty good when I was finished, if I say so myself. I have the
"before" pictures, but never got around to taking the "after" shots.
    That's annoying.

This is part of your line of work isn't it?

What would you recommend for a cement floor that's started going a bit
    'powdery' in one corner?

I think it's damp, but TBH I know nothing about the mysterious of cement - I
would like to seal it so it doesn't get worse/fill the garage with dust
    though.

  15. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
PVA - buy it by the 2 or 5 litre can, dilute 5:1 with water and apply
    with brush or roller.

Used to be, not so much these days.
If it is due to damp there's not much point in sealing it, it'll just come
    out somewhere else.

If it's just gone powdery any proprietary concrete sealer should do the
trick, although personally I reckon a good grey single pack polyurethane is
good for garages. Only thing to watch out for is that if the car / bike is
parked up for more than a few days, when you move it you'll pull up small
patches due to migration of the plasticizers in the tyres. If this is a
worry either a 2 pack or a single pack clear penetrating "case hardener"
    would be better.
