Gees, what a day to head out in a leather jacket/jeans on a furnace with
wheels. Sydney is blisteringly hot today and one can only imagine just how
this summer is going to go!

    Faaaark.

Yesterday I had a phone call which went something like this...

"Hi David, it's Joe Bloggs, calling from Mt Isa. Faaaark it's hideous here,
around 45 degrees and I'm hanging to come back to Sydney. We're putting
your name forward for a project here for Jan/Feb. Are you available?"

    Naturally I said yes.

    Cheers,
    Dave E
(His name wasn't really "Joe Bloggs").

  3. According to my thermometer it maxed out at 41.3 and it's 40.6 now. I hate
having to work on black cars in the hot sun and the damn tools kept burning
    me.

All in a day's ride up here mate... in fact it's the only time I
appreciate the humidity. My TA jacket is well ventilated and when moving
I am nice a chilly as the sweat humidifies! You get used to it quickly
and it's not a drama.... COLD OTOH! Froze (literally) in Uralla on the
way to PI!! I don't handle that very well but then again I wasn't
exactly quipped for those sort of temps!

I stepped out of the climate controlled office at about 20deg and still felt
like an oven at 5pm. Even winding out across the Harbour Bridge felt like I
had a giant hair dryer on me, it was actually cooler with the visor down.
Got home, checked the thermometer, 41deg! **** that, went straight down the
beach, the temperature gauge in the car said 40 deg outside temp still at
6pm. Gotta love that global warming...

    Hey UB,

Hmmm - beach. Now there's an idea. I think that will become a top 5
evening destination for moi in the coming weeks. The topbox will make the
perfect locker for helmet + jacket/pants. Hopefully noone will be
interested in my old boots (which won't fit with the other gear). Have you
had any problems with missing stuff?

Perhaps it's time to revive the "Pet Shop Boys" Beemer Airflow jacket I
bought a few years ago. Seriously gay (a saucy little silver and black
number) but it does its job perfectly - as it damn well should at that
price. :-| The magnificence of this sweet little thing is quickly
forgotten when you're feeling hot and it allows the world to blow all over
    you as you ride (um...).

    Cheers,

    Hey UB,
I take the kid down too so I drop the bike at home and take the car. It's
much easier with all the towels and buckets, spades and associated
    paraphenalia that go with it.

I see. Good reminder there - I clean forgot about my bucket and spade. :)

PS. I used to think Freshy was one of the better places for eye candy and
consistently good body surfing conditions. How does this line up these
    days?

  15. Christ. She's dangerous enough in the paddock. There's no way she's bringing
    the ride-on inside!

Well that's my local, the eye candy is fantastic, the waves have been a
little small lately but still enough to have fun with.
If you see someone with a bossy 3 year girl digging big holes in the sand,
    that's me :)

VB isn't even made from beer! (Unlike another CUB product).
