Just done that and came home via the local butchers, so I have a fridge full of some fine food. -- Tim two#21, YGL#3 & BOTAFOT#84 Due to the limitations of current email, the lip movements may be out of synchronisation as you move your finger under the text while reading. tim dot ukrm2 at dsl dot pipex dot com
It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the Three and a half years is impressive, never mind the three it was supposed to take. It's awfully thin, though... On a related topic, someone emailed me a picture of a bridge over an expanse of water, which turns into a tunnel halfway across. It seems there are a few of these around (unlikely as that sounds). What's the thinking behind that, then? Why not make it a bridge all the way, or a tunnel all the way?

Look like they've used a low bridge consruction to limit costs (presuming it's not deep-water, so allowing piles to be sunk relatively easily) but needed to allow oceangoing transport through, so built the tunnel sections rather than swing/drawbridges, which would limit traffic, or a completely different high & wide span, which would have been much more expensive. http://www.cbbt.com/history.html
Cheers Able Seaman. Now, anyone know of any comprehensive lists of these things, so I can identify the ones I've been sent (which looks like it could be in the Middle East somewhere).
Hmmm, tempting, but on balance I reckon sitting at home supping cold Kronenbourg 1664 by the pool wins out. Just.
